Deputy Prime Minister Jean Asselborn at the 17th regular meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Community of Portuguese-speaking countries
Following the invitation of the CPLP, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg, Jean Asselborn, attended the 17th regular meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Community of Portuguese speaking countries which took place in Maputo on July 18th and 19th, 2012, a.
Invited to speak at the meeting, Minister Asselborn pointed to the presence of a large lusophone community in Luxembourg which currently represents nearly 16% of the total population of the Grand Duchy. He noted the close relationship between Luxembourg and the Portuguese-speaking world and the willingness of Luxembourg to strengthen these relations even further, be it in the political, economic or development area. The Minister stressed in this regard that Luxembourg will maintain its level of ODA at 1% of Gross National Income.
