Formal meeting of the Working Group on Children and Armed Conflict

The Working Group on Children and Armed Conflict met on 14 February in formal session to adopt the conclusions of the Secretary-General's Report on Children and Armed Conflict in the Philippines (S/AC.51/2014/CRP.1/Rev.5 du 27 janvier 2014).

On this occasion, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, Ms Leila Zerrougui, also introduced the Secretary-General's report on children and armed conflict in Syria ( S/2014/31).

The Special Representative also presented her new campaign « Chidren, Not soldiers », which aims to end until 2016 the recruitment and use of children by governmental security forces as listed in the annex of the Secretary-General on Children and armed conflict. The official launch of the campaign will take place on 6 March 2014, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg, H.E.Mr Jean Asselborn, the Special Representative and the Executive Director of UNICEF, Mr Anthony Lake.
