Published Thursday April 29 2010

Luxembourg has donated EUR 2 million to the Enhanced Integrated Framework Trust Fund (EIF) for Least Developed Countries (LDCs). This second donation brings Luxembourg’s EIF contribution to EUR 3.5 million. The Enhanced Integrated Framework aims at enabling least developed countries (LDC) to build their capacity to participate and benefit from international trade opportunities. Ms. Dorothy Tembo, the Executive Director of the EIF welcomes "Luxembourg’s valuable and timely donation to the EIF. These contributions will allow LDCs to expand their markets, integrate in the global economy and take better advantage of the multilateral trading system." Luxembourg’s Ambassador Jean Feyder stated, that Luxembourg is committed to help LDCs "strengthen their trading capacities, better integrate trade in their national development strategies and use trade as a tool for growth and poverty reduction. This new contribution from Luxembourg will particularly help countries such as Mali and Laos to develop their production capacities and to overcome new challenges such as deficit reduction in the agricultural sector."
