Luxembourg elected as chair of the Guinea configuration of the Peacebuilding Commission
In response to the request made by the authorities of the Republic of Guinea, the Organizational Committee of the Peacebuilding Commission (PBC) decided today to place Guinea on its agenda and to form a country-specific configuration to accompany Guinea on the path of building a sustainable peace. In this context, the Organizational Committee of the PBC has elected Ambassador Sylvie Lucas, Permanent Representative of Luxembourg to the United Nations, as chair of the new PBC Guinea configuration. In her intervention, Ambassador Lucas underlined that Luxembourg has been actively engaged in post-conflict peacebuilding since the inception of the peacebuilding architecture within the United Nations. It is in this spirit, and taking into account the importance of building sustainable peace in Guinea, including for the stability of the sub-region, that Luxembourg welcomes the opportunity to accompany Guinea on this path.
