Luxembourg participates in the Partners' Forum of the Alliance of Civilisations in Istanbul

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg, Jean Asselborn, participates this Thursday on 31 May in the Partners' Forum of the Alliance of Civilisations, which takes place from 31 May to 1 June in Istanbul.

Invited by Prime Minister Erdogan, the partners of the Alliance of Civilisations, comprising government representatives, NGOs, the private sector, private foundations and individuals, met in order to take stock of the Alliance's activities and discuss the future of the Alliance.

The Forum was co-chaired by the United Nations Secretary-General, Mr Ban Ki-moon.

In his intervention during the opening ceremony, the head of Luxembourg's diplomacy reiterated the full support of Luxembourg to the objectives of the Istanbul conference. In this perspective, Minister Asselborn also underlined that Luxembourg's financial support to the Alliance, which was EUR 50,000 per year since 2005, will be maintained at this level in 2012 and will be increased to EUR 75,000 in 2013.
