Luxembourg participates in the Security Council's Debate on Peacebuilding

Published Thursday December 20 2012

In her statement at the open debate of the Security Council's open debate, Luxembourg's Permanent Representative, Ambassador Sylvie Lucas, discussed the three principal priorities put forward by the Secretary-General's report on peacebuilding in the aftermath of conflict: inclusion of all stakeholders, in particular the most vulnerable and women, in peacebuilding and statebuilding processes, strengthening of State institutions and finally the improvement of partnerships for a sustained attention of the international community for peacebuilding.

On the eve of Luxembourg's mandate on the Security Council for the years 2013-2014, the Ambassador renewed the commitment to continue strengthening the relationship of the Council with the Peacebuilding Commission. She recommended in particular benefiting from the knowledge and analysis of the Chairs of the Country-specific Configurations for the countries on the PBC's agenda during the consultations of the Council, as well as throughout the mandate cycle for UN Missions in the countries in question.
