Luxembourg participates in the launch of the United Nations voluntary trust fund for victims of trafficking in persons, especially women and children

Published Thursday November 04 2010

During the launch conference of the trust fund, the Permanent Representative of Luxembourg announced an initial contribution of 30.000 euro, approximately 42.000 US dollars, to the fund to support victims of trafficking in persons, especially women and children, which will be managed by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

Ambassador Lucas recalled that no country is immune against trafficking in persons, which makes it indispensable that all Member States of the UN commit themselves to fighting this scourge, notably by ratifying and implementing as a matter of priority the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime and the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, especially Women and Children, supplementing the Convention, as the global action plan which has been adopted this year urges them to do.
