Published Tuesday December 14 2010

At the annual high-level conference on the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF), the Permanent Representative of Luxembourg, Ms. Sylvie Lucas, recalled that Luxembourg has supported the Fund from the outset because it constitutes an indispensable tool for implementing humanitarian assistance. In absolute terms, Luxembourg is the 13th largest donor to the CERF. Ambassador Lucas announced that Luxembourg will maintain its contribution to the CERF for the year 2011 at the level of 4.2 million Euros, or approximately 5.6 million U.S. dollars. With this contribution, Luxembourg would like to underscore its support for the role of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) as well as for the effectiveness and coordination of humanitarian action.
