Luxembourg pledges 4.2 million Euros to the CERF in 2012

Published Friday December 16 2011

At the annual high-level conference on the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF), the Permanent Representative of Luxembourg, Ms. Sylvie Lucas, recalled that Luxembourg has supported the Fund from the outset because it constitutes an indispensable tool for implementing humanitarian assistance. In absolute terms, Luxembourg is the 14th largest donor to the CERF. Ambassador Lucas announced that Luxembourg will maintain its contribution to the CERF for the year 2012 at the level of 4.2 million Euros, or approximately 5.5 million US dollars. Through this renewed contribution, Luxembourg wishes to underscore its support to the work of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) as well as to the effectiveness and coordination of humanitarian action.
