Luxembourg's Foreign Minister addresses the 22nd Session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean Asselborn participated in the 22nd Session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva on 26-27th February 2013.

During the Ministerial segment of the 22nd Session of the HRC, Luxembourg's Deputy Prime Minister presented the Luxembourg Government's human rights priorities. The Minister notably stressed women's empowerment and the protection of women's rights, as well as the rights of children, notably in armed conflict.

Concerning current international affairs, the Minister addressed the situation in Mali, in Syria and in the Middle East.

The multiple dimensions of the fight against poverty in the world, the right to food, as well as the nexus between security, development and human rights were also discussed by the Minister in his address.
