Luxembourg supports Security Sector Reform in Africa

Published Friday May 27 2011

On May 16th and 17th, Luxembourg attended, as observer, a meeting of Government experts of Member States of the African Union (AU), which took place in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia). The meeting, which was financially supported by Luxembourg, examined the draft AU Policy Framework on Security Sector Reform (SSR), which will be submitted to the AU Executive Council Ordinary Session of January 2012, for consideration and adoption.

This commitment from Luxembourg is part of Luxembourg’s efforts to strengthen its relationship with the African Union. Recognising that the Security Sector Reform is essential to consolidate peace, notably in Africa, Luxembourg wishes to express its full support to the emergence of an African approach in the field of Security Sector Reform.
