Statement by the Guinea Configuration of the Peacebuilding Commission

Published Wednesday March 06 2013

The Members of the Guinea Configuration of the United Nations Peacebuilding Commission are deeply concerned by the acts of violence committed over the last few days in Guinea, which have taken the lives of ten persons and have injured hundreds of others.

The Guinea Configuration of the United Nations Peacebuilding Commission appeals to all parties to exercise restraint.

The Configuration encourages all political stakeholders in Guinea to engage in the dialogue process that was launched by the President of the Republic in a constructive manner, with a view to the organisation of elections which are free, transparent, credible at both the political and technical levels, peaceful, acceptable and accepted by all.

The Members of the Guinea Configuration of the Peacebuilding Commission reiterate their availability to accompany the preparation of elections and in general to support Guinea on its way to consolidate peace and democracy.
