Statement by the Guinea configuration of the Peacebuilding Commission
The members of the Guinea configuration of the United Nations Peacebuilding Commission are concerned by the acts of violence committed in the context of the demonstrations on 13 and 14 April 2015.
The Guinea configuration of the United Nations Peacebuilding Commission appeals to all parties to maintain calm and exercise restraint, especially at a time when the country is facing multiple challenges related to the Ebola epidemic. The configuration takes note of the Government’s call for dialogue and urges all actors in Guinea to engage constructively in a process of dialogue with a view to agree on the organization of the upcoming elections.
The Guinea configuration stands with the people of Guinea to accompany the country on that path.
Guinea can also count on the continued support of the international community in its fight against the Ebola epidemic and for a sustainable recovery and development of the country.
