Sudan and South Sudan: the Security Council adopts a presidential statement

Today, the Security Council adopted a presidential statement by which it expressed its continued support for the African Union’s efforts to facilitate Sudan’s and South Sudan’s compliance with the requirements of resolution 2046 (2012); the Council also welcomed the creation of the AU Border Programme Technical Team to determine conclusively the Safe Demilitarized Border Zone centerline on the ground,

Given the continued challenges to peace, the Council called on all parties to urgently implement fully and immediately all relevant agreements and  refrain from pursuing any actions that might threaten peace.
