Published Thursday October 20 2011

On 18 and 19 October 2011, a high-level Symposium of the United Nations Development Cooperation Forum (DCF) on the topic of “Working together to increase the development impact of aid” took place in Luxembourg, with the participation of over 150 representatives of governments, international and regional organizations, the UN system, civil society, the academic world and the private sector.

Organized in preparation for the next DCF, to be held at the end of June 2012, this Symposium was opened by Luxembourg’s Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs, Ms Marie-Josée Jacobs and Deputy UN Secretary-General Asha Rose Migiro, as well as the President of the UN’s Economic and Social Council, Ambassador Lazarous Kapambwe.

The Luxembourg Symposium presented an opportunity to debate more effective ways to mobilize financial flows such as investment, microfinance and domestic resources to maximize the impact of development aid.
