DRC: Adoption of resolution 2098 (2013) renewing MONUSCO's mandate
The Security Council unanimously adopted resolution 2098 (2013) , prolonging the mandate of the UN Stabilisation Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) until 31 March 2014 and equipping the Mission with an "intervention brigade" with a mandate allowing it to carry out targeted offensive operations to stop the expansion of armed groups, as well as neutralise and disarm them, with a view to allow for stabilisation of the Eastern DRC.
