In his capacity as Co-Chair of the Intergovernmental Negotiations on Security Council Reform (IGN), Ambassador Braun undertook a four day visit to Beijing for consultations with the Chinese Government on the issue of Security Council reform. Ambassador Braun discussed in-depth the ongoing reform process with Foreign Minister Wang Yi, agreeing on the importance of working together to ensure the continuance of the IGN process towards a strengthened and more efficient Council, one which better reflects the international realities of today.
He also undertook productive working level discussions with Assistant Foreign Minister Zhang Jun, and Director General of the Department of International Organisations and Conferences Li Junhua.
Together with Ambassador Lana Zaki Nusseibeh of the United Arab Emirates, Ambassador Braun is appointed by the President of the General Assembly H.E. María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés as Co-Chair of the IGN process throughout the 73rd Session of the General Assembly.
